Specimens of Sarda orientalis were collected from fishermen at Mukalla Sea (Gulf of Aden). These were
brought to the laboratory of Biology, Faculty of science, Hadhramout University. 15 samples of varying
lengths and sizes were used for morphometric, anatomical and histological examination of Sarda orientalis
fish collected from the coasts of the city of Mukalla (Hadhramout) 2019. The morphometric study included
measurements of the external lengths of the fish represented in the total length, spine length, standard length
and weight. The study also included measuring the total length of the intestine. These measurements were
recorded in tables, expressed in diagrams, and these diagrams were explained, analyzed and discussed.
Heterocyclic dyes (Haematoxylin and eosin) were used to detect intestinal tissue components using light
microscopy. Microscopic examination of the transverse tissue sections of the intestine showed that it is
composed of four layers (mucosa, submucosa, muscular and serosa). The folds of the intestine were shown to
contain many intestinal glands.
