Publication Guidelines for Authors

The Journal of Basic and Applied Sciences is a peer-reviewed, semi-annual publication focusing on research in basic and applied sciences, including agriculture, medicine, pharmacy, environmental sciences, life sciences, and microbial and food industries. It is published by the Faculty of Science at Misrata University. Submissions are accepted from researchers in Libya, the Arab world, and internationally, in both Arabic and English.

General Requirements

  1. Originality: Research must be original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere. Authors must confirm this in writing to the Editor-in-Chief.
  2. Language: Submissions in Arabic must include an English abstract (half a page), and those in English must include an Arabic abstract of the same length.

Formatting and Submission

  • Manuscript Structure:
    • Arabic submissions: Abstract (English and Arabic), Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results and Discussion, Conclusions (if applicable), and References.
    • English submissions: Abstract (Arabic before English), followed by the same structure.
  • Formatting:
    • Font: Times New Roman, size 14, with 1.5 line spacing.
    • Margins: Top and bottom 3 cm, right 4 cm, left 3.5 cm.
  • Length: Maximum 15 pages, including tables, figures, and appendices.
  • Figures and Tables:
    • Figures: Black and white, numbered sequentially, with captions below.
    • Tables: Numbered sequentially, with titles above and notes below.

References

  • Use numbered citations in brackets (e.g., [1], [1-3]). Provide a detailed reference list at the end, including the title, journal name, volume, page numbers, and publication year.

Keywords

  • Provide up to ten keywords below both the Arabic and English abstracts.

Review Process

  • Submissions undergo academic and linguistic review by two experts. If evaluations conflict, a third reviewer will decide. Authors must address reviewers' recommendations or justify their position.

Submission Checklist

  1. Written request to publish, confirming originality and exclusivity.
  2. Author’s CV in both Arabic and English, including specialization and academic title.

Important Notes

  • Non-compliance with submission guidelines will result in rejection.
  • Accepted authors receive one free copy of the issue containing their work. Rejected submissions will not be returned.
  • Republishing or abstracting content requires written permission from the Editor-in-Chief.
